Jewelry Organizer

So I recently re-organized my closet & changed up the Master bedroom! My old jewelry box didn't match the new décor so I decided to make something new.

It first started off with something for my earrings. I took an old 8x10 picture frame spray painted it de-stressed it a little & then used my staple gun to staple chicken wire to the back. I then hung it in my closet with a command strip. (I'm trying to not put holes in the wall)

Next came time to make something for all my necklaces. So off to Lowe's I went & had a board cut at 18inches I then painted it with a blue I had on hand from when I made my Cat Scratcher turned Towel Holder. Have you seen that? If not you can Here

 I went to Hobby Lobby  & found some adorable drawer knobs to hang the necklaces from. I was so excited too because the day I went they were 50% off (got to love not paying full price).

Then I needed Mr. Awesome's AKA the hubs!! Well I really just needed his drill but whenever I ask to use his tools he kind of takes over my project. (Honestly I don't mind). It's nice working on things together. So hubs drilled the holes & twisted in the knobs & then he got his dremel out for me & cut the back of the knobs off (they were a little too long for the board I got). We then hung that under the earring holder also using command strips!

DIY Chicken Wire Picture Frame

I was shopping at Michael's one day & found this silver frame on clearance for $5 it was so cute I couldn't resist it. I had no idea what I would do with it so it sat in my closet for awhile.

I used to have a really big bed frame with a huge cast iron headboard it was beautiful but our taste changed so we sold it. We'd love to build a wooden pallet head board but with trying to sell the house we figured we should wait. So above my bed was a blank empty wall BORING!!

So I knew I needed to put that frame there. I have seen chicken wire frame's for sale & some are pretty pricey I figured why buy one when I can make one :)

So off to Lowe's I went to get supplies:

Staple gun & a roll of chicken wire hubby already had wire cutter's in his tool box. I stapled the first part of wire on and then cut the amount I needed! I got a little staple happy but oh well at least I know it's on there good.

I wanted to clip pictures to it but decided for showing purposes people didn't want to be staring at pictures of us so I came up with the idea of "Sweet Dreams" above the bed

I found little luggage tags at Michael's then cut off the top & used a stencil & sponged on the paint. I then used mini clothes pins to clip it to the chicken wire. I still think I'd prefer pictures but it works for now & at least there is not just a plain wall.

Oh & I used command strips to hang it that way no holes to patch!!

Paint a Mason jar! What?

It's funny that I never knew I could paint so many things! I would have never thought to paint half the stuff I do! Thank goodness for other crafty friends to inspire me to try new things & Pinterest! Seriously what did we do before Pinterest?


So when I get bored at night or during nap time my brain starts ticking hmm... I need to do something! I don't really like to sit still. I like to be doing things, with 3 kids I am always moving & doing something so when they are napping or sleeping I NEED a project!

Well I had some mason jar's from different things & I started wondering what I could do with them. I have a table in my entry way that needed to be spruced up! I've seen others paint Mason Jar's & apparently most people paint them on the inside.

Well I'm not most people so... I painted mine on the outside! When I was looking for how to paint them I was at Michael's looking at different paints. I came across Martha Stewart's paints & you can use them to paint glass. I Love Martha she is very classy & does some awesome stuff. So I knew I wanted to use her paint. I also loved the colors she had for paints.

Here is after one coat & then after they were done they took a couple coats

This is where the ended up on my table in my entry way.

The mirror I also painted with a Martha Stewart paint.

Cat scratcher turned Towel holder!

So check this out I had this cat scratcher that you could hang from a door (we adopted a kitty a few months ago) I didn't want her scratching my furniture so I thought this might help. Well I was wrong she never used it! (glad it was only like $5)

Anyhow I have been re-doing my master bathroom because I came to hate everything about it wall color shower curtain! It all started when we replaced the floor! I would love to change the mirror & vanity but we are trying to sell our house so I don't want to fork out the money (there is nothing wrong with either I'm just bored).

So I've seen others make cute towel holders rather than the normal towel rings. Well one of my dearest friends she's pretty well known she has her own blog & it's super amazing you can check her out here: LIZ  she has made some super cute Mason Jar holder's! I inspire to be like her she is so creative.

I told my husband I wanted to make a towel holder & use a Mason Jar for Q-tips. (my hubby is an avid q-tip user & they get spilled all under the vanity).

So he loved the idea & started brainstorming I was ready to head to Lowe's for paint & the wood when his little light bulb went off! He said lets use the wood from the cat scratcher! (he hated that thing from the second I bought it).

It had like a piece of carpet covering it & then rope wrapped around & stapled to it so he got out his tools & ripped everything off & then I took a razor & scrapped off all the glue.

He then lightly sanded it for me (he is so sweet). We had a little Mason Jar already so we just needed paint, a pipe clamp, a hook & a screw & bolt.

So off to Lowe's for it all, came home I painted the wood & once it dried Professor Awesome (he told me to call him that, he's a nerd) got to all the hard work! He drilled a hole in the glass & he mounted it to the wood (I should have took pics during all this I was not thinking sorry).

We actually just used a nickel colored command strip for the towel holder (I can change it if I like or if we have to leave the towel holder when we move it was cheap).

I'm in love!!! What do you think? I have some other little changes for my bathroom & once it's finished I will show it all (so stay tuned for that).

Easy DIY

So our house is up for sale & that's one whole big annoying mess I'll probably get into that at one point! Well I took down most of my wall décor to de-personalize.

I now have a dislike for my house & want to change everything I am so bored! I want to repaint but with it being for sale I don't want to put more money into my home we have already done so many upgrades!

So I have been looking for ways to change things on the CHEAP!

So I have this hanging on my wall & I still like it but it needed to be changed some way some how!(my style has changed & this is just not fitting anymore)

So I started thinking & thinking!! I thought 1st I need different color candles & I wanted to paint the iron to white! Then I thought of a way to dress up the little glass holders:

 

Why not wrap in some burlap? I love burlap it's so cute!!! I had some left from making a Table Runner for my kitchen table so it was perfect & free :)

 

I actually ran out of paint while painting the iron holder (it was paint I had already had I said I wanted to do this cheap right?) Well I was going to go buy more but when I brought it in to hang it up to get an idea of how it would look my husband said he really liked the way it looked so I decided to leave it for now! Maybe I will end up re-coating it but for now I'm loving it!!

Oh I also wrapped a little jute rope & tied it around the glass holders. I really am loving this little do over! Since the paint didn't fully cover it looks distressed in a way!

Nap Time DIY Craft

So I was bored today while the boy's were resting, we had went to the park this morning, so they were worn out!

I have been bored with my kitchen & wanted to add more color to it!! All my appliances are black & so is my knife block. Boring!!

So I thought hmm.. I will paint it! I already had primer & a aqua color that matches my mixer so I thought yep that's what I'm doing!

So outside I went with a brown paper bag, my knife block my primer & aqua spray paint.

Was such an easy project & didn't cost me anything because I had all the supplies!

Chalkboard Paint Label's

So 2 of my boy's share a room & I am always looking for ways to keep their room organized. I'm kind of OCD on that my Best friend would agree!

So I re-did their closet & organized with a bunch of bins from the dollar store! (yep dollar store) got to be savvy with 3 kiddo's!!

Well then I thought if I could somehow label the bins it would make clean up way easier!! I could also use as a teaching method for my oldest for reading what toy's go where!

So I started thinking I could get sticky labels but as their tastes change & toy's change the label would have to & sticky label's just leave a mess, so that was a no go!

Then I thought hmm.. Chalkboard you can wipe it off & change the words! So then I had to think of how I wanted to make them. I thought little wooden signs would be cute.

So off to Michale's I went to get ideas. I found chalkboard spray paint. & these thin pieces of wood that I could cut down & some jute rope!

 

Then back to my thinking process If I cut them into little squares & drilled holes I could tie & hang them with the jute rope & then as toy's change the words can change! (I seriously love chalkboard paint whoever invented it is so awesome!!)

My husband actually cut all the wood for me using a simple hand saw & then he drilled the holes for me & off to spray painting I went it took a few coats but the end result I was very pleased with!!

Once they were dry I pulled the jute through & tied them to every basket in the boy's closet & then labeled them!! Since I put shorts & pants in some of the bins it made it much easier to find who's clothes I was looking for!

The labels are cute & not tacky so it's an added bonus. I actually got complimented  by a realtor on them & my organizing skills! Made me feel good!

So here is the finished product:

The plastic colored bins are from the Dollar Store & the black cloth ones were clearance at Walmart!!

Pretty happy with the new organization!! Now I just need to get smaller chalk the big sidewalk chalk is kind of hard to write with!

Table re-do

So I've gotten brave & a little crafty! I got really bored awhile back and wanted to paint some table's. This  all started because I hate my kitchen table it has gotten so worn & beat up from my kids!  But I can't find one that I like for a decent price they are all outrageous.

So... I thought I'll paint mine! Now that is going to be a big project & my husband wanted me to have some practice before hand! well we had some end tables that were BORING!! So I fixed them up & LOVE them now!!

I was not quite sure where to start so I turned to my favorite DIY'er  Liz & got here recipe for her homemade chalk paint you can see it here :

I'm lucky enough to have her as a great personal friend so when I run into trouble I can give her a call ;)

It was seriously the easiest thing ever no sanding (well a little after) no priming! My kind of painting easy :)

So here is the table before: I was using it as a Lego table for Aiden (my oldest) but he lost interest over it after about a week of having it. So I took it back hehe!

Here it is painted & then I decided I wanted to distress it

 

Here it is after my distressing which was not as hard as I thought would be I just needed a sanding block I started off a little at a time & then did more as I got braver! 

 

And here is my little Lovely in my living room!! I love it so much!!

So what you need is:

Paint (whichever color you want! I used a satin finish)

This color is cream in my coffee by Valspar

Unsanded Grout

Paint Brush

Sanding Block
