Inspiring Baby Shower Ideas

So The other day I went to a baby shower for my Cousin in law :) She is expecting her first child a little boy this October!! I love baby showers and all the decorations & there are so many ways to go about it. Here are some awesome ideas I found on pinterest!

I Love the "Little Man" theme! I actually did that theme for my middle son's 1st Birthday!

                                                                         Pinterest

This is absolutely beautiful for a little Girl! Love Love the Bird House's!! It's very elegant
                                                                       Pinterest

How cute is this Nesting idea? I love it! (I kind of have an obsession with birds) But this could also be used for a girl just throw in some pink!! Adorable

                                                                          Pinterest

This one is also very elegant in White I think this coud definitely be a gender neutral! It's very crisp & clean looking.

                                                                           Pinterest

Um hello LOVE seriously Nautical is so stinking ADORABLE!!! I absolutely love this & the stand it is on as well!!

                                                                         Pinterest

What do you think? Do you prefer gender neutral showers or one that cater's to the baby's gender?

Paint a Mason jar! What?

It's funny that I never knew I could paint so many things! I would have never thought to paint half the stuff I do! Thank goodness for other crafty friends to inspire me to try new things & Pinterest! Seriously what did we do before Pinterest?

So when I get bored at night or during nap time my brain starts ticking hmm... I need to do something! I don't really like to sit still. I like to be doing things, with 3 kids I am always moving & doing something so when they are napping or sleeping I NEED a project!

Well I had some mason jar's from different things & I started wondering what I could do with them. I have a table in my entry way that needed to be spruced up! I've seen others paint Mason Jar's & apparently most people paint them on the inside.

Well I'm not most people so... I painted mine on the outside! When I was looking for how to paint them I was at Michael's looking at different paints. I came across Martha Stewart's paints & you can use them to paint glass. I Love Martha she is very classy & does some awesome stuff. So I knew I wanted to use her paint. I also loved the colors she had for paints.

These are the colors I chose:

Here is after one coat & then after they were done they took a couple coats

This is where the ended up on my table in my entry way.
The mirror I also painted with a Martha Stewart paint.

What do you think? Have you ever painted a Mason Jar?

Make your own Cream Of... Soup

Ok so we all know that ton's of recipes call for cream of something soups right? Well I don't know about you but Cream of Chicken soup freaks me the hell out! It's yellow & the chunks of bright pink chicken EWWW!

Plus they really are not healthy so much sodium & preservatives UM no thanks!! Now I am not health nut by any means! I love pizza or fried chicken! But I do try to make better choices a lot of times.

So I had seen on Pinterest others have made their own cream of something soups & honestly it is so freaking easy!! Really TRY IT!

So the one I use the most is cream of mushroom here is what I do:

In a sauce pan-

Melt 2 Tbsp butter

add chopped mushrooms (as much as you'd like)

Whisk in 2 Tbsp flour (let it cook for a min or 2)

Pour in 1 cup of milk slowly (you don't want the cold milk to make the flour all lumpy)

Cook for eh 10 mins (till it's on the thicker side)

You can add salt & pepper to taste ( I usually only add a little of both unless I'm mixing it with something else that has salt in it)

This is my Cream of Mushroom, seriously my food tastes way better using this :

For cream of chicken:

 Melt 2 Tbsp butter

Whisk in 2 Tbsp flour

Pour in 1/2 cup chicken stock & 1/2 cup Milk

Cook till it thickens add salt & pepper to taste

For cream of celery:

Melt 2 Tbsp butter

Add chopped celery cook for couple mins to soften

Whisk in 2 Tbsp flour

Pour in 1/2 cup vegtable stock & 1/2 cup milk

Cook till it thickens add salt & pepper to taste

Have you ever made your own cream of something soups?

And The Outcome Is.....

GOOD!!! So you may be wondering what am I talking about! Well I am talking about my son's 6 week follow up with his cardiologist! He was in the hospital 6 weeks ago because he had been diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease.

He had an echo cardiogram when he was in the hospital everything looked perfect, then at his 2 week follow up appointment he had enlargement to his left coronary artery (aneurysm ).

Today was his 6 week follow up & I was nervous and had a twisted stomach all day. We got there & they were running behind (it happens). They first did height & weight little stinker is almost 20lbs & is a little over 29 inches tall! Then they did an EKG on him. The nurse was so sweet & was blowing bubbles to keep him still!

Then came time for the echo & boy was I nervous this is where we would get an answer to what was going on with lil man's heart! Once the lady was done it was back to the exam room & wait for the Dr to review (it seemed like forever).

In came the Dr with GOOD news his aneurysm had shrunk down & he felt comfortable taking him off of his aspirin. WOOHOO!!! No more pumping aspirin into my little guy
& his heart was returning to normal!! We go back in 8 weeks!!

Now I still have some concerns about his joints so we will have to have a follow up with his normal pediatrician but for now I am one happy momma!!

Oh we also had a house showing today we literally got home within 15 minutes before they were scheduled to come so we had to load up the other 2 kids & the dog. The people were early so everything was not as perfect as I wanted to be but ya win some & lose some so we shall see what happens.

Now I can enjoy our trip to Busch Gardens & to NY (Western NY Buffalo area). Thanks to all that have been thinking or praying for my little guy means a lot!!

I have Fear but I Have to have Faith

Well were approaching little man's next appointment with the cardiologist! It's on Monday to be exact! I'm nervous & fearful. I have that awful feeling in the pit of my stomach that nothing has changed. That he still has an aneurysm. I'm fearful that it could be worse. I'm fearful that he may need long term medicine.

If your new to my blog well you are probably wondering what in the world I am talking about & what is wrong with my child. If that is the case my now 14 month old son was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease on May 29th.  You can read our full story Here & Here

It was rough & then having to wait 2 weeks for a follow up appointment with the cardiologist wondering what they would see. Well they saw enlargement to his left coronary artery which they call an aneurysm. The Dr said it could resolve by his next appointment which is Monday!

So now you can understand my fear of what Monday will bring! I have fear for what kind of obstacles my son may face & what his future with this disease may bring. There is so much unknown about the long term affects of this disease (which drives me absolutely nuts).

I search the Internet for hours many nights trying to learn & understand more. I have support groups where we all talk & some children are doing just fine other's are losing hair, have joint pain, get sick a lot, some are still on long term med's (aspirin or other anti-coagulants, some steroids) So it's basically like the mystery disease. What will it do to my child? (I don't know)

So many Dr's have said it is very unlikely to have another "flare-up" yet I have read about more children having 2nd bouts with Kawasaki Disease since finding other parents in my situation (it is so    frustrating to not have answers).

Through all of this fear I have to remind myself to have Faith. Have Faith that he will be ok, that they will find the answers to this "Mystery Disease" I think at this point having Faith is the only thing getting me through all of this. I need to have Faith that his heart will be ok if not through it's own healing that it will be through medicine.

Will update everyone of what we find out from Monday's appointment.

Cat scratcher turned Towel holder!

So check this out I had this cat scratcher that you could hang from a door (we adopted a kitty a few months ago) I didn't want her scratching my furniture so I thought this might help. Well I was wrong she never used it! (glad it was only like $5)

Anyhow I have been re-doing my master bathroom because I came to hate everything about it wall color shower curtain! It all started when we replaced the floor! I would love to change the mirror & vanity but we are trying to sell our house so I don't want to fork out the money (there is nothing wrong with either I'm just bored).

So I've seen others make cute towel holders rather than the normal towel rings. Well one of my dearest friends she's pretty well known she has her own blog & it's super amazing you can check her out here: LIZ  she has made some super cute Mason Jar holder's! I inspire to be like her she is so creative.

I told my husband I wanted to make a towel holder & use a Mason Jar for Q-tips. (my hubby is an avid q-tip user & they get spilled all under the vanity).

So he loved the idea & started brainstorming I was ready to head to Lowe's for paint & the wood when his little light bulb went off! He said lets use the wood from the cat scratcher! (he hated that thing from the second I bought it).

It had like a piece of carpet covering it & then rope wrapped around & stapled to it so he got out his tools & ripped everything off & then I took a razor & scrapped off all the glue.

He then lightly sanded it for me (he is so sweet). We had a little Mason Jar already so we just needed paint, a pipe clamp, a hook & a screw & bolt.

So off to Lowe's for it all, came home I painted the wood & once it dried Professor Awesome (he told me to call him that, he's a nerd) got to all the hard work! He drilled a hole in the glass & he mounted it to the wood (I should have took pics during all this I was not thinking sorry).

We actually just used a nickel colored command strip for the towel holder (I can change it if I like or if we have to leave the towel holder when we move it was cheap).

I don't have my own picture of what it originally looked like but I googled & this is almost identical to what it originally looked like before we started:

Here is the link to the picture I found on google I wanted you to get the full affect!

So here it is after we stripped it & sanded it:

And this is it now:

I'm in love!!! What do you think? I have some other little changes for my bathroom & once it's finished I will show it all (so stay tuned for that).

It's Nice To Be Missed!

With being a stay at home mom my kids NEVER miss me because I'm always home with them! We go everywhere together.

When daddy gets home they RUN to him! They are so excited to see him & are jumping for joy wanting all his attention & I am chopped liver!

My husband is on vacation right now so I have taken advantage & done running around alone or met up with some friends.

Yesterday I got to spend the day with a couple of my favorite ladies. It was so nice to have an adult conversation & not lose my train of thought because I had to break up a fight or lay a kid down for a nap. I didn't have someone going mom, momma, mommy!

I got to be an adult I got to be Candice & for a couple hours it was amazing!! I love my little ones more than anything but every parent needs a break now & then! I think especially if your a stay at home parent! We tend to lose ourselves because we don't get to leave & go to the adult world! We are in the kid world 24/7.

I so enjoyed catching up with friends & truly being able to listen to everything they said. It was nice to just sit & relax.

I didn't have to worry about what the kids were doing & I didn't feel rushed to get home because they love being with daddy & he is great with them.

When it was finally time for me to go home I was excited to see my little munchkins I missed them it was a nice feeling to miss them & be excited to see them!

When I walked in the door they all ran to me mommy... I got hugs & kisses & everyone wanted ME!! It was such a great feeling to be missed! Granted they always run to me when they are hurt they want mommy, or if they have a bad dream. But for them to just be so excited to see me was a pretty awesome feeling.

Made the day so much better to feel so loved when I came home!

Fun in the Sun & No son that is Not an Easter Egg!

Yesterday was a busy but fun day! It started out with a trip to a surgeons office for myself (yippee skippy). I've had some issues & the Dr thought it was my gallbladder! Turns out it is & its only  working 8% (Thanks for your hard work stupid organ!) . So she wanted me to have surgery next week BUT... were planning a trip back home & to Busch Gardens so stupid organ I mean gallbladder has to wait!

After I left there it was time to head to Wally World (Walmart)! I needed some milk & eggs & some swim stuff for the boy's we were having a pool play date with friends!

This was Caresn's 1st time swimming he LOVED it he just floated happily around in a float the whole time! Aiden (5) was busy playing with his lil gal pal :)

Brycen was having a blast climbing in & out & kicking his legs he let me hold him a few times, he ran around the backyard & then the nudist came out! Stripped his bathing suit right off & was not putting it back on! Luckily my friends know my Wild child well & they could have cared less they got a kick out of his little naked behind! I said Brycen when we get home you will have to tell dad you were the naked swimmer.

So Brycen screams "daddy I da naked swimmer" I'm sure their neighbors loved that! Oye!

Well then little nuddie pants figured out jumping into the pool was a blast so then for about 1/2 straight I stood catching Brycen while he jumped to me he was laughing & kept saying "again momma again" (whatever makes the kid happy).

Then it came time... time for epic meltdowns because they were tired you know then it's time to pack your sheet & go! So we did!  The older 2 fell asleep on the ride & the baby was playing with his feet & the last 5 mins home was screaming he wanted his bed! So in his bed he went  & passed out.

The hubs had a softball game so it was a dinner free for all at our house! After dinner we did baths to rinse off the chlorine & then I decided to make brownies.

As I crack the 2 eggs & throw the shells in the garbage I quickly wash my hands to turn around & see Brycen & Carsen each with an egg in their hand trying to bite into them.

My response: "are you flipping crazy you cant eat those"

Brycen: "candy momma"

Me: "no honey those are not Easter eggs & you can not eat them"

Let's hope no one gets salmonella! No they didn't get them open thank goodness!

I swear I can't turn my back for 2 seconds with those two one is as bad as the other! The little one Watches EVERYTHING!!! I am so screwed!

So we had a fun day in the sun & enjoyed some brownies :)

Why Do I Blog?

Some people may wonder why I blog! Well at first I started here & there just for fun, to share things mainly for my family to read because we live away from everyone!

Then at the end of May my 1 year old (my youngest child) became sick & was Diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease! I decided after being in the hospital with him for 5 day's & seeing what he went through & that since it was a rare disease & not well known about I Needed (yes needed) to blog our story!

I needed to share what we had been through what others may have gone through but were maybe afraid to share. Or to help other parents know that if their child became sick with Kawasaki they were not alone! This little boy right here was my inspiration, he made me realize I needed to become a more active blogger!

He is such a sweetheart & I feel as his mommy it is my job to learn as much as I can about his disease!

I also wanted to share my life with other's. Many mom's struggle with different things some may be so tired they have no idea what to cook, I'd like to help them with that! So I share recipe's!

Some may draw a blank on what to do to entertain their child, I'd like to share my ideas with them!

Some are looking for way's to use more natural products & I am happy to share what I do & use.

Some may just be having a horrible day & need a laugh & well I literally live in a circus with my 3 boy's so my madness can just about make anyone laugh.

Maybe when I get serious about something it will make another not feel alone.

Basically I blog to help! Help others & help myself! Writing helps me clear my mind & I find it therapeutic.

So this is why I blog. I love it & love sharing things with others! Hopefully you will enjoy what I share & stick around.

Till next time

Easy DIY

So our house is up for sale & that's one whole big annoying mess I'll probably get into that at one point! Well I took down most of my wall décor to de-personalize.

I now have a dislike for my house & want to change everything I am so bored! I want to repaint but with it being for sale I don't want to put more money into my home we have already done so many upgrades!

So I have been looking for ways to change things on the CHEAP!

So I have this hanging on my wall & I still like it but it needed to be changed some way some how!(my style has changed & this is just not fitting anymore)

So I started thinking & thinking!! I thought 1st I need different color candles & I wanted to paint the iron to white! Then I thought of a way to dress up the little glass holders:

Why not wrap in some burlap? I love burlap it's so cute!!! I had some left from making a Table Runner for my kitchen table so it was perfect & free :)

I actually ran out of paint while painting the iron holder (it was paint I had already had I said I wanted to do this cheap right?) Well I was going to go buy more but when I brought it in to hang it up to get an idea of how it would look my husband said he really liked the way it looked so I decided to leave it for now! Maybe I will end up re-coating it but for now I'm loving it!!

So here is the finished product:

Oh I also wrapped a little jute rope & tied it around the glass holders. I really am loving this little do over! Since the paint didn't fully cover it looks distressed in a way!

What do you think?

Holy Heart Attack

So you know those moments when your shopping & your kid decides to hide in the clothes & you have a panic attack because you cant find them? Or the sheer terror when you turn & they are not there because they walked to the opposite side of where they just were?

Being a parent is so scary & the other day was no exception! We were home & I have chain locks on both doors because I don't want my kids to wander outside if I go to the bathroom!

So the other day I ran to the bathroom & came out & Brycen was NO where to be found! I started panicking & yelling for him I looked at both doors & they were locked ok he is not outside!

I checked in closets, under beds in my garage we have a cat door that goes out to the garage which sometimes he thinks is funny to go out!

I turn on the garage light & look & NO where do I see him! My heart is racing I'm yelling for him, my husband walks in the door & I say I cant find Brycen anywhere he starts calling him & looking all over.

Finally back to the garage I go & where is Brycen hiding behind the ladder up against the wall!! All this time quiet as can be does not make a peep! He was safe the entire time & then when I say Brycen I've been looking for you he just starts laughing!

Seriously how does a 2 year old stay so quiet? He is not a quiet child at all!! He will make an excellent hide & seek player because NO one could find him!

I swear my heart was racing for an hour still after that! Even though I knew he was not outside just the fact I couldn't see him for a couple minutes & he didn't answer me made me panic!

That boy will be the Death of me!!!

Has your child ever caused you a panic attack?

Coconut Breakfast Cake

Well I'm not really sure if this is more for breakfast or dessert! But I made it for Breakfast the other morning & it was so yummy!!!  I found the recipe on Pinterest of course it's a Martha Stewart recipe which you can get the original one HERE.

It was super moist & delicious it calls for coconut inside the cake but I was kind of spacey yesterday & doing a million things at once & of course I forgot to mix the coconut in Ooops!

Honestly though it was so good it didn't need the coconut inside! So I just toasted coconut for the top!
my husband & kids enjoyed it. If your not a big coconut lover then I say try it my way! If you really enjoy it you may want to follow the original!

So here is what you need:

a bread pan

1 & 1/2 -sticks of butter unsalted (if you use salted then reduce amount of salt below)

2-cups flour & a little for inside the pan

1 & 1/2- tsp baking powder

1/2 -tsp salt

1-cup white sugar

1-tsp vanilla

3-eggs

1-cup buttermilk

For frosting:

1-cup powdered sugar

2-Tablespoons buttermilk

1/2 cup sweetened coconut

*Preheat oven to 350  Butter the pan & then sprinkle some flour in & shake it around

*Mix flour, baking powder, salt in a bowl

* In another bowl use a hand mixer cream butter & sugar together add eggs one at a time, then add vanilla

* slowly add flour mixture to butter mixture about 1/2 cup at a time & alternate adding the buttermilk

* Once it is all mixed add to loaf pan & bake 50-60 minutes until tooth pick inserted comes out clean.

* While baking toast coconut I used a pan on top of my stove

Finished Product :)

Looks good right? Try it!!

Hide A Veggie!!

So my kids are complete fruit addicts! They LOVE pretty much any fruit, so I never have an issue getting them to eat that Vegetables on the other hand?

The baby will eat anything he just likes food he's our little garbage disposable! Aiden (oldest) will eat sweet potatoes & broccoli and that is it. Brycen (middle) ya he wont eat any veggie he picks it up & will either try it & then spit it out & put it on YOUR plate or he smells it says I don't like it & put's it on your plate! If he does not like something he can not allow it to be on his plate.

So I always worry that they don't get enough veggies! Well since my kids are such fruit addicts & they enjoy fruit smoothies, I decided to trick them & sneak a veggie into it (hahahaha).

The other day I made them a mixed berry smoothie using:
~ 1/2 a banana
~ I'd say 2 cups of frozen mixed berries
~ A little bit of milk
~ Couple spoonful's of Strawberry Greek yogurt
~2 -2 1/2 cups fresh spinach

I blended it up & poured them all a glass & they all drank it WINNING!!!!

I really want to buy a juicer & then add like carrot juice to it!

It's something so easy to make & healthy & great way to hide a veggie!

They sure loved them! Do you give your kids smoothies? If not try it :)

My Mommy Guilt

I'm about to get real-

So I have read other blogs & seen other friends post their mommy guilt! We all have it! Were not doing enough, the house is not clean enough, the kids don't get to do enough etc..

Well I have really been struggling with my mommy guilt lately. Mainly the last 2 weeks! As some may know my youngest child Carsen had gotten diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease at the end of May. You can read all about our nightmare here:  Kawasaki part 1 & here Kawasaki Part 2

Anyhow- since the hospital Carsen has good day's & bad days some day's he is really happy & will play but the second I get to far from him he looses it & has an epic meltdown.
On his bad day's I can't set him down without crying, he wants to be on my hip 24/7. I hold him because I know he is upset & having a bad day & because those day's I also notice he has trouble walking he falls down more on his bad day's. Which I'm pretty sure is attributed to joint pain. As it is a symptom of Kawasaki!

I find myself paying most of my attention to Carsen because I feel he needs me the most. He was in the hospital, he was very sick & were waiting to see how his heart is doing! Maybe it's my fear that something will happen to him. I need him to know how much I love him & how special he is.

But what does this do cause my mom guilt, I'm not giving my other 2 precious boy's the attention they deserve, I'm not balancing my time properly! I kind of hate myself right now because while to Carsen I may be being super mom. To Aiden & Brycen I'm being crappy mom! (insert my guilt)

I go to bed at night & feel awful I should have played more with Aiden & Brycen today! Though all their needs are still met & we still play. I still feel it's not enough. I feel sometimes I push them to the side & instead of sitting down with them to craft I just let them do their thing & tend to Carsen.

I used to balance them all so well they all got equal time & I would take them each alone on little trips with me. But lately I am so consumed in Carsen & worried for him, that all I want to do is cuddle & hold him.

I don't want my other 2 boy's to grow up & think oh he was mom's favorite! I love them all equally. I don't want them to resent their baby brother because he got more of my attention. I want my boy's to all grow up & feel they all were loved & cared for equally.

So why is this so hard? Why.. when I know what I need to do to make me feel better am I still struggling? I really hope in a couple weeks we get good news so maybe I wont be so obsessed (not sure if that's the right word) with Carsen.  Maybe July 15 will bring me some peace of mind so I wont live in fear for my baby's heart! Though even if it's good news we still may have  other health concerns for him.

Mom guilt sucks! It is such an awful feeling!

Are you struggling with mom guilt?
